First Meeting Announcement

It's time for...MOPS!

Our first meeting will be Monday, September 14, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., and meetings will be the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month after that (except Dec.).

Please come and enjoy a time of introduction to our theme of the year,

"Together on Planet Mom"

and enjoy eating, socializing and learning with moms like you.

Remember to bring your childcare donation of $5.00 per family

so that you can enjoy your two hours of "mommy time" (you know you need it :).

Also, please comment below to let us know if you will be there, and names and ages of the children you will have with you so that we can be prepared for each age group!

Picture this!

Believe it or not, it's not too early to get your Christmas card photo.

To help raise money for our MOPS group, Melissa Corkum Photography is offering complimentary sessions with a donation* to White Marsh MOPS. The money raised will be used to pay our childcare workers who graciously watch our kids so we can 2 hours of full-sentence conversation twice a month.

*suggested donation is $50. CDs and prints of photos are not included.

Please contact Melissa if you would like to schedule a session.

Encouragment for moms with kids-in-tow

I always hated the “stay at home mom (SAHM)” tag. I do not work outside of the home, but “stays at home ” would not be found on a list of phrases that describe me. If you know me at all, you know I like to do-do-do and go-go-go. Lately I’ve been calling myself a mom with kids-in-tow (always in tow). They go with me everywhere (except when they can’t). They go to coffee dates, shopping trips, volunteer activities, workouts/training, meetings and field trips (and sometimes work and doctor appointments). I take them places they enjoy too–playgrounds, beaches, zoos, playdates, museums, libraries, and more playgrounds. Besides being high energy, I also am an information hog. So we learn together–canning, crafts, cooking, baking, gardening, experimenting, sewing, photographing (is that word?).

Sounds stressful? It is. The more kids I have, the more dramatic life gets. The highs are higher and the lows are lower. I am also grouchier than I ever remember being.

This is getting rambly (another made up word, I think)…but stay with me.

Hop over here to read the rest.

I had the privilege of receiving a gift from Gail today that was given on behalf of you guys AHEM gals. So I wanted to say a very big...

We have been so blessed by all of our MOPS friends.

Time flies...

...when you're having fun. Can you believe summer is entering its final weeks? White Marsh MOPS leadership is starting to think about our upcoming year.

What's that? We were supposed to do that last spring? I know, I know.

So as I was saying...we're starting to think about this year. We have a big concern about having enough adults to "man" or "woman" our childcare rooms--we have 3. We don't want to have 3 moms volunteering at every meeting so would you pray for wisdom and guidance and MORE VOLUNTEERS!?!!?

What to do? Wednesday.

Here's a new blog carnival that I started at my personal blog. I'll post a new activity/craft to try every week if you post yours!

June Mom's Night Out

Chocolate Making at the Cake Cottage
Monday, June 15, 7:00 - 9:00
Cost: $22.00
We need a minimum of 10 moms in order to do the class. We will make all kinds of chocolates, and we are sure to leave with lots of samples to take home after the evening is over. Please e-mail Kris Marsheck directly at kmarsheck[a] and let her know if you are interested. She will have to collect the monies ahead of time as the Cake Cottage wants to be assured there is commitment. We will talk again on Monday--bring your checkbook or cash .

Last Meeting

Well, summer is almost here, and so is our final MOPS meeting until the fall.
June 8 @9:30AM.

We are going to have a "Tea" party of sorts, so everyone please bring a snack to share....small sandwiches, fruit, veggies & dip, cheese and crackers, chocolate, cakes or breads, etc. We will provide the china, tea, coffee and other drinks. Also, come prepared to share with the group some ways that MOPS has helped you in your "Adventures in Mothering" this year. If you don't like to talk in front of people, just send me an e-mail and I can share it with the group :)

We will be honoring our childcare workers during the last half hour of the meeting...they mean so much to us!! Without them, we wouldn't be able to have our two hours of much needed "Mommy" time: conversation with other moms, learning more about mothering, praying for each other and sometimes just laughing and making a simple craft.

The children, weather permitting, will be having some "Water Fun!" so please pack a swimsuit, swim diaper, change of clothes and towel. You may want to bring an extra swimsuit or swim diaper just in case someone new comes or someone forgets theirs!!

Creating a Legacy

Monday we talked about ways to leave a legacy for your family. It's more than just a fancy scrapbook, it's about creating traditions, passing down stories, and sharing memories. Most important is your family's spiritual legacy...your beliefs and values.

For those of you who are into the fancy scrapbooking side, here is the site we mentioned Monday with the fabulous unlimited page book sale...winkflash.

5th Monday

We set aside 5th Monday nights for a much needed Mom's Night Out. They often turn into baby showers for arriving Moppets as was the case last night. Still waiting on word about little Owen David...

We finished the MOPS curriculum DVD last meeting. The topic...hope. Who around you has renewed your hope? What is making hope elusive in your life? Leave a comment and let us know.

Inaugural Post

Welcome fellow MOPS! I hope this blog provides us a place to introduce new friends, keep in touch, and gather a little extra encouragement. If you already attend and miss a meeting, hopefully you'll be able to catch up here. If you just found us, feel free to stop by a meeting and see what we're all about. We're a little zany but what mother of preschoolers isn't?
